Wakey... Wakey... Me!!!

Internet is an absolutely impersonal medium. Or, that is what I thought until I explored it extensively only to find out that it has so many attributes that is very personal in nature. Ofcourse, nothing comes easily. You have to dig all the 100 feet instead of giving up at 10, 55 or 99.... Go all in and there is a wonderful world waiting to be discovered by you.

I do think of net as Virtual Reality - Virtually Real or Really Virtual. Many of us find ourselves liberated of our fears, inhibitions and a few others discipline. Best thing I love about it is that it does not have boundaries. In the real world, we talk about setting our mind free so that we can be creative, innovative... productive. However, reality throws buckets of cold water whenever you try to free yourselves. Even typing this blog without bothering about the reader (which is actually pathetic because I hope somebody reads it ;)). Anyway, coming back to the point of finding our true calling in the virtual world requires patience, perseverance, time and last but not the least... a good broadband connection too!!!

There are two YOUs - one wanting to be real; another wanting to be unreal. Real as in being ourselves and doing what we like and having a fun-filled satisfied lives. Unreal as in trying to be something that we are not - like the President of US of A or being Tom Cruise or having Pamela Anderson massage us for free. Both are instances of fallacy because neither the Real "us" fully comes to the fore nor does the Unreal happen. So, we go around trying to find a platform where we can be Real or Unreal. I don't know if there is such an optimal platform to be both. Probably, after life may be a research area. But, since I am still alive and writing this for living beings, I choose to do that research after I move on to the next world.

Here is a medium which can make us listen; make us think; make us creative... even make us sane. A friend told me there are four things that we need to understand. Things that are:

  1. True and Good
  2. True and Bad
  3. False and Good
  4. False and Bad

The first two defines reality. The next two fantasies. The goods and the bads are the outcomes of events. If we know the difference of True and False, we can consider ourselves to be in the vicinity of sanity. Understanding of Good and Bad shows us as people with common sense. It is the permutations and combinations of these four factors that throw us off balance. We occasionally end up with a screw or two loose trying to unravel the mystery.

Like everything else, net is a matter of perception. Perception is about seeing black and white but understanding shades of gray and ash. When religion says "What is yours was somebody else' yesterday and would be someone else' tomorrow", science steps in to claim " Energy cannot be created or destroyed but can only be changed from one form to another".  What it proves is that, the Object seems to be the same... It is the objective that changes with the perception. I perceive the world to be good... that might be fantastic or disappoint me. I perceive the world to be bad... that is pathetic or wonderful depending on my objectives.

Here is a bunch of questions to do a reality check about ourselves...

  • When you saw the image at the beginning of this article... what did you perceive???
  • Did it come across as a gesture directed towards you?
  • Did you feel offended?
  • Or, did you think this would be an offensive article?
  • What did you perceive when you saw the image before reading the blog? And, what you perceive afterwards?
  • Are you still offended?
  • What does it say about ourselves???

The last word is ... the virtual world is like that image. Confusing for some... offensive for some... never comfortable...ever. We go beyond to see what is hidden under the four fingers closed downwards, and we may just find something that we truly want. Whether we can enjoy the finding is questionable... because... wakey, wakey, mate... it is virtual in reality or an illusion... a make-believe.

There are multitude of ways to digress but it is an individual's choice. A different topic for a different day... that one!!!
