For me, today's class was a continuation of slumber on Saturday night.
Economo-Syndrome – Switch faculties at will
I sleep-walked to the class only to a see a new faculty. Thought I had walked into another class, because there was somebody I have never seen before. Wasn't that supposed to be MC class, and where on earth is the other guy? Apparently, the other guy had called up his friend, to cover for his absence. Good work, people. Keep it up. Why bother about these petty students while you have other important things to do. The new one thought he was going to be with us for four hours and spent the first two parroting what the other one had covered last week. Thankfully, didn't disturb my nap by teaching new things. Zimblee, sooper… veree pro-fe-son-al.
During break, visited the Canteen after a long time. Their menu is not that bad and prices are great. Dosa for Rs.8 and juice for Rs.10 are good value for money. I and Kuldi went around the campus begging for a glass of water. Unfortunately, the water cans were not as full as the patrons' heart that let us in so kindly.
Came back after a leisurely stroll expecting the first session's faculty to be in class. Surprisingly, it was the "Non-communications " lecturer filling the stage. It turned out to be her best performance to-date. She did a great job covering the topic of preparing for "Job Interviews". Got some excellent pointers to include in my training programs. Showed she has excellent grasp about how campus-recruitments works. Surely, will use those things in my next interview – either the ones I attend or the ones I conduct. Thanks, Ma'm. Made yourself useful, at last.
I was feeling too sleepy and decided to leave for the day. Thought twice about the impending "Accounts" session and decided to stay until his session is over and take-off before "Legal" Ma'm came-by. Seemed it was not my day.
Lunch that we could SEE
Back to TOPSEE and sat where we could SEE our food. Pigged a plate of Biriyani with too much masala. On our way out, I handed out some money to PrabHu to pass it to the watchman as tips. Immediately, he started searching for some change. Explained that he was looking for his share to add to the tips. Well, mate… we go DUTCH only for the cheque… not the tips.
Legally wrong
While eagerly waiting for the Accounts lecturer, the legal tutor sneaked it. My loud groan wasn't the best of welcome for her. Not a reflection of your teaching, ma'm… just my disappointment of having to stay back the whole day. Halfway through the class, the Biriyani inside led me to the world of dreams. She was extremely sweet and didn't disturb my siesta. Later understood from guys that I was sprawled on the bench with an open mouth. That explains why I found a couple of flies in the mouth. Woke up and found a drenched notebook underneath. Sultry Sundays to be blamed… Why can't we have air-conditioners in class, for poor souls like me?
Caught up with her after the class, to get some free legal advice. While we were talking, the guys passing us were staring angrily at me. Got the advice, alright… but what a place to get that advice. Right in front of the guys' loo. Explains the stares…doesn' t it?
Invaluable Inventory
No way could I miss the Accounting session for any number of hours of sleep. Stayed back to enjoy the show. He put on another exemplary show. I am sure whichever college is employing him is blessed with an invaluable intellectual inventory. The whole class came alive with his LIFOs, FIFOs, PVRs and BEPs.
Highlights of the day
- Prabhu complained that I spell his name wrongly in my messages. It was not prabu but prabHu. Readers... please read his name in all the earlier messages with that extra "H". Anyway, I have rechristened him as POLICE-KAAR from now on, owing to his police-like moustache, body and mannerisms. I repeat guys... it is POLICE-KAAR, not POLICE-MAMA, ok.
- At the canteen, caught Vivian with a plate of Pau-bhaji. Sebastian and Srivats waiting for Ram to bring their dough.
- Ram came with a big baggage. Understood that he travels every weekend from Tirunelveli to attend classes. Hard to find such sincerity in a Government employee!!! Btw, if you all were wonder about where he gets his electrifying personality, be informed that he works for EB. He is a courteous and helpful character who even helps everybody to complete their sentences.
- Deepthi has dropped out of our group to be part of a different one… ENGIRUNDHAALUM VAAZHGA!!! Kalpana confirmed she is still in ours.
- Kudos to Vidhya for helping a friend out. Proved she is indeed a friend when in need.
- Kuldi and somebody on the last row on the other side had a small verbal sparring, like NEEYAAA??? NAANAA???
- Thanks to Police-kaar for the cover page for Assignments.
Wake up, Fellas… It is well past time
While writing the blog, caught the Captain trying to send invitations to the new members. I don't understand how we still have class-mates who haven't signed up into our group, even after two months. I can see this as nothing but lack of interest. Or, is it because Vijay forgot to send flowers, coconut, betel nuts and leaves with his last invitation. Any other reason... blame my judgmental character...
Outside the campus walls
India is playing a very important T20 match against England today. With the risk of being branded unpatriotic, I wish they lose the match. If they lose, they are out of T20 and I don't have to spend time watching the rest of their matches. It is a pity that we are not ready to spend an additional hour at the Statistics session but are ready to spend nearly 4-5 hours watching cricket.
Alright, guys `n' gals… It is midnight and am closing for the day.
